Program overview
This course had been designed to share with the participants the requirements and procedures to be able to conduct DAB. FIDIC has now brought DAB (1999) to DAAB (2017) on a standing format, enhancing their role in a construction project. The online course mainly focuses on legal and contractual backgrounds, mechanisms, project management features and procedural rules. Throughout the course, a case study – based on a real case – will be presented. Some exercises, homework will be given to be completed between sessions. Sharing of best practices between the participants and the trainers will also be organised.
The online course is built upon the new features of the 2017 FIDIC Forms and the sessions highlight the main differences between the 1999 Conditions of Contracts and the new 2017 Edition as to DAB/DAAB. For those who want to understand and work as DAB, this is a course not to miss!

Teaching method
Live online sessions and homework on case-studies
Course work
The Module 3 program is comprised of nine live sessions of approximately 1.5 hours duration each. The course is based on lectures in combination with directly related casework through which participants will work on real-life cases and practice application of the various contract conditions. As part of this course, the participants will be given new casework/exercises to elaborate and each session begins by discussing the solutions. The (average) time span in-between the training sessions is two weeks, enabling the attendees to elaborate and discuss the casework solutions.
Work assignments may be undertaken at any time; lectures and classroom participation require being available at predetermined hours on specified dates throughout the duration of the program. All lectures and classroom sessions are recorded and can be reviewed at any time.
Workload
- A session of 1.5 hours every 2 weeks plus case study work at home between each session, 9 sessions in total.
Platform
The casework will take place on a chat platform (Podio) where the course participants present and discuss a case input in writing. Presentations, assessments and discussions of the submitted replies will take place in an online classroom (Adobe Connect).
Admission criteria
Professionals with enough experience in FIDIC contracts (Module 1, 1A and 2 recommended).
CV with minimum requirements as to FIDIC contract management, to be transmitted at registration.
- A Certificate of Successful Completion requires having responded in writing on Podio to all casework and attending at least half of the live classroom sessions.
- A Certificate of Participation requires having participated at least in 50% of all activities.
Costs
In order to assist industry professionals looking for contract training opportunities in these challenging times, FIDIC has taken the decision to reduce by 20% the cost of its online Module 3 to allow for a larger attendance during the current coronavirus crisis.
Cost with 20% reduction included: Euro 2'300
Included in the price is the online training and hard copy versions of the relevant FIDIC documents.
