FIDIC has signed a major training collaboration agreement with the Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) which will see the two organisations working more closely together and collaborating on training-related and other matters of mutual interest over the next two years.

The MNACI is a business association representing the second largest industry sector in the Maldives and aims to promote the development of the construction industry and enhance the standing and reputation of the members of the Maldivian construction industry to internationally acceptable standards.

FIDIC and MNACI have signed a memorandum of collaboration for two years to facilitate collaboration to support both organisation’s shared goals and objectives regarding the delivery of training for consulting engineering and construction Industry professionals. Both FIDIC and MNACI agree that there is an opportunity to collaborate to improve the competencies of Industry professionals in the Maldives region in the management and application of FIDIC contracts and business practice and to upgrade the skills of individual professionals and the agreement they have signed is designed to enable that.

Areas of collaboration are likely to include the delivery of face-to-face and online training in FIDIC contracts and FIDIC business practices to MNACI member companies, non-MNACI members, industry stakeholders and business contacts of MNACI in the region and the exploration of further opportunities to develop and deliver other FIDIC training in the region.

Commenting on the agreement, FIDIC chief executive Dr Nelson Ogunshakin said: I am delighted that FIDIC has signed this major agreement with the MNACI and we look forward to working closely with them on a range of training-related issues. Our MoU will be a big boost for members of FIDIC and MNACI and the international consulting and engineering firms and contractors that work in the Maldives region and we are looking forward to working with MNACI over the coming two years.”

Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Mohamed Ali Janah, president of the Maldives National Association of Construction Industry, said: “The signing of this agreement is a great milestone for our organisation and the industry in the Maldives and it will greatly benefit our members and regional members, who have been asking us to enter into a collaboration with FIDIC for some time. We are looking forward to working closely with FIDIC over the next two years.”
