FIDIC has revealed a list of three individuals that will receive recognition at its prestigious 2024 Future Leaders Awards. These awards highlight the outstanding talent and potential within the engineering sector, recognising individuals who are poised to make significant contributions to the field.

After considering all the submissions in this year’s competition, an independent judging panel has agreed on the following list of candidates to receive awards in the 2024 FIDIC Future Leaders Awards: -

Rahim Ahmad, Manager Construction Services, Associated Engineering. (Canada)

Dilini Gamage, Structural Design Engineer, Hairu Engineering Consultancy. (Sri Lanka)

Mads Brandt Rasmussen, Associate Project and Market Director/Lead Consultant, COWI. (Denmark)

Each of the above will be honoured with an award at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on Tuesday 10 September 2024, during FIDIC’s Global Infrastructure Conference in Geneva. Winners of the awards, which showcase and promote the outstanding achievements of future leaders across the consulting engineering industry worldwide and encourage effective participation of future leaders in FIDIC, are highly regarded in the industry and many have gone on to play leading roles in the industry and at FIDIC.

The FIDIC Future Leaders Advisory Council, which plays a key role in organising the awards, is comprised of young professionals from FIDIC’s global member associations. It was originally formed to provide emerging professionals in the consulting engineering industry with opportunities to participate in FIDIC and to develop the next generation of FIDIC and industry leaders.

Commenting on the candidates, Rodrigo Juarez, a consultant with FOA Consultores in Mexico and the current chair of the FIDIC Future Leaders Advisory Council, said: “The FIDIC Future Leaders Awards are essential for acknowledging the exceptional accomplishments of emerging leaders in the consulting engineering sector. This year, we are delighted by the number of high-quality submissions from candidates across the globe and this truly global representation underscores the vast pool of talent and innovation that is driving the future of our industry.”

The three candidates now have a short wait until September before they discover who among them will be crowned the overall winner of the 2024 FIDIC Future Leaders Award.
