Representatives from the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA) and FIDIC met in Luxembourg on 14 May 2025 for the inaugural meeting of the European Global Action Committee (EGAC).

The committee was established in the partnership agreement signed last year by the two organisations' presidents, Catherine Karakatsanis and Inés Ferguson and its work will ensure effective coordination and communications between EFCA and FIDIC on matters of mutual interest. The committee is made up of three members from each federation, respectively two board members from each together with the CEO of FIDIC and the director general of EFCA. The committee will meet periodically (at least three times per year and one in person) and will discuss and jointly agree the main topics to be included in a joint action plan. The plan can be updated by the EGAC as and when needed.

With a full agenda at its first meeting in Luxembourg, the committee discussed a number of matters of common interest, including sustainable procurement and collaborative contract models, Ukraine, resilient infrastructure and the use of AI in design by consulting engineers. A preliminary programme of joint activities was agreed and the meeting marked a new era of partnership, that will ultimately benefit the sector at both European and global levels.
