FIDIC will co-organise the LAC Transport Forum 2026 with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Miami on 29-30 September – the first time the federation has held a co-organising role at the region's flagship transport policy and investment event and its most senior delegation yet in Latin America and the Caribbean.
FIDIC president Alfredo Ingletti, chief executive officer Susanna Zammataro and head of policy, ESG and sustainability Basma Eissa will represent the federation across the forum's high-level programme, contributing to panel discussions, moderated sessions and closing proceedings.
IDB manager of the Infrastructure and Energy Sector Tomás Serebrisky and chief of the Transport Division Ana María Pinto are the key IDB leaders driving the collaboration, with the forum led by the Bank's Transport Division within the Infrastructure and Energy Sector.
FIDIC's contribution to the programme will include discussions on quality and performance in infrastructure delivery, including the role of project preparation, procurement, engineering services and contracting in improving project outcomes.
"FIDIC contracts are already widely used in infrastructure delivery across Latin America," stated Ingletti. "Co-organising this forum with the IDB allows us to move that relationship forward, from providing the tools needed, to helping how the region prepares, structures and delivers them."
"A pipeline is only as strong as the projects behind it," noted Zammataro. "Preparation, procurement and contracting are what turn opportunities into investments."
Co-organising the forum marks a significant step in FIDIC's engagement in the region, where its standard forms of contract are already widely used on transport and infrastructure projects. With organisers mapping more than 100 preliminary opportunities worth an estimated US$15bn across more than 18 countries, FIDIC will bring its expertise in project preparation, quality procurement, fair and balanced contracting and sustainable infrastructure delivery to discussions on how this pipeline can be translated into bankable, deliverable projects. The role builds on FIDIC's engagement with the region's transport policy dialogue process started in October 2025, when FIDIC CEO represented the federation in Santo Domingo at the Regional Transport Policy Dialogue 2025.
Held at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami, this year's forum opens with a closed-door ministerial policy dialogue on 29 September followed by an open project roadshow on 30 September featuring country presentations of strategic transport investment opportunities and bilateral meetings between governments and the private sector – delivered in Spanish, English and Portuguese. This marks a significant evolution in the Dialogue's format: for the first time, the IDB's Regional Policy Dialogue on Transport is opening part of its programme to private-sector participation through the Project Roadshow – the component of the forum open to external audiences.
Organised under the theme 'Expanding the Transport Sector's Impact', the forum will focus on strengthening institutional capacity across the infrastructure investment cycle, improving project preparation and delivery, and expanding opportunities for private-sector participation in the region's transport infrastructure.
